Descriptif :
- Les voyages extraordinaires d’Axel est un grand album documentaire doté de cinq chapitres : les mers et océans, l’immensité de l’espace, les animaux sauvages, la vie à la ferme et la ville du futur. Deux amis, Axel et Soon, accompagnés de leurs compagnons, Zelda la chatte et Archimède l’oiseau, découvrent les mondes qui les entourent.
- Les pages trés colorées de ce beau livre s’accompagnent de textes informatifs invitant à la curiosité. Comment marche un sous-marin, combien de cerveaux possède le poulpe, qui travaille dans un port de pêche, qui a fait du golf sur la lune ou encore quelle est la portée du rugissement du lion ? A l’instar des illustrations, les textes ouvrent l’envie et la voie à de nouveaux questionnements et recherches.
- L’album s’accompagne d’une application en réalité augmentée permettant d’animer toutes les pages.

Degré d’intérêt
Critique
- L’album papier a réussi son pari : il donne envie de l’explorer visuellement. Les pages, entièrement colorées, regorgent de détails et attiseront l’intérêt de tous. La lecture se complète d’un jeu proposé aux petits lecteurs et lectrices : retrouver huit éléments cachés dans chaque chapitre.
- L’album en réalité augmentée est à saluer pour sa fluidité et la qualité de son animation : de la couverture à la dernière page, tout prend vie en un clin d’œil via l’application. Les éléments à chercher sont d’ailleurs cette fois mis en valeur en se cerclant de blanc.
- Par contre la réalité augmentée ne permet aucune interaction : le lecteur ne peut actionner à l’écran aucun élément ou animation. Si ce choix est défendable, celui de ne proposer aucune sonorisation l’est difficilement : nous voici face à des images silencieuses, alors que, dans les grands tableaux colorés, éléments, personnages et animaux se meuvent avec souplesse. C’est trés étrange et pour des habitué·e·s des narrations en réalité augmentée, c’est vraiment déroutant !
