SwapTales Léon propose aux enfants une aventure sous forme d’album à jouer. Un jeu de lecture adapté aux jeunes lecteurs – avec de l’aide pour les plus jeunes, les énigmes étant adaptées à des enfants de 8/10 ans – ou aux apprenants en langues étrangères (allemand, anglais, espagnol et italien) de fin de primaire et début de collège.
On se fait une partie de lecture ?
Est-ce un jeu ? Est-ce un livre ? SwapTales Léon a réussi à combiner les deux avec intelligence.
La première page présente Léon, un petit garçon qui ne souhaite qu’une seule chose : grandir rapidement. Rien de bien original apparemment. Pourtant dés la seconde page, l’intérêt du procédé se révèle : en touchant du doigt certaines zones de l’image, les mots correspondant dans le texte se surlignent. « Exigeant », un attribut du papa de Léon, « fatigante » une qualification de la maman et « rigolo », une dénomination du travail des parents, se mettent en gras et deviennent mobiles. Car il suffit de les déplacer du bout du doigt dans le texte pour les inverser : la maman passe de fatigante à rigolote ou le papa d’exigeant à fatigant. Et chaque changement … transforme bien sûr l’illustration également.
Textes et images entrelacés
Les parents exerceront successivement le métier de clowns, de professionnels du bâtiment ou de chimistes. Le papa pourra jouer du banjo, chatouiller son fils ou lui présenter sévèrement un devoir marqué un zéro pointé. Et la maman couvrir Léon de baisers, lui faire des grimaces, ou lui montrer, menaçante, sa très mauvaise note.
Des énigmes narratives
Quand on joue à deux, l’un touche les illustrations, l’autre fait glisser les mots du texte. L’histoire se poursuit de pages en pages et demande de résoudre de nombreuses énigmes narratives. D’autant qu’en fonction des choix opérés, les pages précédentes et suivantes se modifient.
Si par exemple Léon en page 3 reste paresseux, l’histoire s’arrête : « Léon était tellement paresseux qu’il passa le reste de sa vie à dormir » lira t-on. Le lecteur devra revenir à a la page précédente pour transformer le récit et poursuivre la narration grâce à un Léon courageux. L’affaire se corse progressivement et demande parfois plusieurs allers-retours pour débloquer la situation.
Un outil pour les apprentis lecteurs
Si le terme de jeu semble un peu étrange au départ, au vu d’une présentation très livresque de l’application, c’est au final la dénomination qui convient le mieux à SwapTales : Léon.
D’ailleurs, le fil narratif se perd un peu dans les combinaisons de mots. Les enfants apprécieront de résoudre les énigmes mais l’histoire passera au second plan et vous constaterez que le texte, simple d’accès, a parfois un côté un peu artificiel pour s’adapter aux alternances de mots.
Ceci écrit, cet album-jeu constitue un excellent outil pour les apprentis lecteurs, en duo avec un plus grand ou un adulte. L’enfant peut lire uniquement les mots clés et s’amuser à les déplacer sur le texte.
Et vous constaterez le même effet motivant auprès des apprenants en espagnol, allemand, italien ou anglais. L’expérience, pleinement ludique, donne très envie aux enfants (et aux adultes) de réussir le challenge proposé et … obligatoirement de comprendre le sens de la phrase en cours.
